At the time of review, the Immigration Department states that an Indonesian domestic helper must be female, aged 21 to 45, medically fit, living in Indonesia before recruitment and entering Malaysia with a Visa With Reference (VDR).

Requirements can change, so confirm the latest eligibility, fees and documents before paying or signing anything.

A good working relationship starts on day one

Even an experienced helper needs time to learn a new home. Give a simple schedule, demonstrate important tasks and explain safety rules without overloading her on the first day. Check in regularly and correct misunderstandings calmly.

Employers must also provide suitable accommodation, nutritious food and proper rest, pay salary on time and keep salary records. Clear boundaries, privacy and mutual respect are just as important as a written job scope.
